Camp Counselor
Driftwood Day Camp is the premier camp on Long Island. With a magnificent completely rebuilt and renovated campus, Driftwood is the only camp named Best of Long Island by the LI Press for 10 consecutive years. Driftwood is dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable, and exciting summer home for all of our campers and staff. Driftwood’s the place where campers build confidence and self-esteem in a nurturing, caring environment. At Driftwood, we believe that everyone should be inspired to do something great, whether building on previous experiences or learning activity skills for the first time. Driftwood’s success rests on the shoulders of our fantastic staff. With a staff return rate of close to 75%, we believe that treating our staff like family creates an ideal environment. We look for enthusiastic and responsible Group Leaders, Counselors and Specialists to ensure that our campers have the Best. Summer. Ever!
Essential Responsibilities
Supervise campers with attention to participation, safety, happiness, skill/character development, and spirit
Encourage camper participation in all activities – lead by example!
Teach and/or assist campers at all activities including swim, circus, sports, and the arts
Promote good habits – be a role model
Work with Camp Directors to identify and respond to camper issues
Help Guide Junior Staff to have a deeper understanding of the needs of Campers
