Boutique tutoring company is seeking intelligent, educated, engaging and reliable tutors to work with high school students in South Bay, El Segundo, Culver City, and Torrance. Many families are seeking in-person tutors, so candidates MUST be proximate to these locations and be willing to commute to students’ homes.

Most desirable are solid skills in high school science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, in that order); math (Geometry, Algebra 1 & 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics) and/or and/or SAT/ACT test prep and/or general study skills - the more of these the better. Familiarity with AP testing (in any subjects you know) could be a bonus. Prior tutoring experience is a strong plus (can be as a volunteer). There also may be opportunities for regular in-school/after-school math and SAT-prep tutoring.

In your cover letter, please highlight any AP subjects in which you are strong. We are currently in need of tutors who are comfortable tutoring AP Physics, Language, Chemistry, History and Government.

We are also in need of tutors who can help students—particularly those in middle school and early high school—strengthen their study skills across multiple disciplines.

Hours are flexible and are negotiated by tutor and student, but are primarily mid/late afternoon and evening Monday through Thursday and on weekends. Tutors can take as many/few students as their schedule allows.

Qualifications: deep knowledge in the subjects of your expertise; comfortable working with high school students; good communication skills. BA/BS degree minimum - graduate level work or prior teaching/tutoring experience is a plus. All tutors must have at least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA and all Test Prep tutors must have scored a minimum of 1300 (pre-2005 or post-2015); 1900 (2005 - 2015) on the SAT and/or 28 on the ACT.

Salary range is $32 - $67/hour (in-person); $20 - $47/hour (remote) with the opportunity to advance quickly, both in hourly rate and in other capacities within the company.
