Playgrounds is the sole parkour gym in the region, dedicated to the sports of parkour/freerunning and gymnastics. We run classes for kids that teach them how to traverse obstacles, flip, and land safely. Currently for adults we only offer Open Gym, but we will offer an adult drop in class as well starting Fall 2023. As a senior coach, you will run classes programs for kids ranging from younger children (4yrs) to youths (17yrs). During the summer months, this would include helping to run Summer Camps (ages 6-13) as well. At this time, other programs include camps, birthday parties open gym.

Senior coaches are responsible for ensuring participants have an engaging, educational, safe and enjoyable experience in classes and programs. This includes but is not limited to: guiding participants through their stations cueing athletes to help them improve, behavioural management, and facilitating games activities during camps parties. Senior coaches are also responsible for providing guidance and direction to movement coaches, float coaching (moving between groups of classes and assisting/making adjustments as needed), completing some cleaning duties, and providing first aid as required. Senior coaches must set a positive example for movement coaches, and communicate any issues or concerns to the head coach or management as soon as possible.

Skills:
Patient, engaging kind manner with children. Group management, problem solving mindset, communication skills, and ability to assist children regulate emotions and reactions with others, and diffuse conflicts or potential bullying situations. Responsible, Athletic, and ability to cue athletes to help them improve, spotting athletes as required, and working in a fast-paced team environment.

Experience:
Applicants must have experience working with and coaching children in an athletic setting, as well as some experience in a leadership role. Applicants must either have or be willing to receive First Aid CPR level C, as well as complete a vulnerable sector check if 18+.

Experience in parkour is required; experience in gymnastics is an asset, but not required. Experience with coaching neurodivergent children in sport is an asset.
NCCP, High Five or other coaching specific certifications are an asset.
Applicants must be able to commit to work at least 20 hours per week for the duration of employment.
