Montgomery Whitewater is a world class outdoor recreation and entertainment facility situated on the banks of the Alabama River. At its core is a state-of-the-art, man-made whitewater channel, created to bring whitewater rafting, paddling, and outdoor activities, and entertainment to the city of Montgomery and the surrounding region. The facility sits on 120 acres and is designed for all users to enjoy outdoor activities and special events, and to share in a healthy, active lifestyle.

Job Summary – Raft Guide
Responsible for delivery of a high quality, safe, fun, and entertaining rafting experience for 6-7 guests at a time in varying environmental conditions as dictated by the unique man-made whitewater facility. Build relationships with our guests to establish a repeat customer base. Interact with guides and guests 95% of the workday. Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
• Guide rafting guests safely down the whitewater channels in a friendly, engaging, professional, and an entertaining manner. Assist in the development of the rafting program and its atmosphere as dictated by the facility
• Develop personal raft guiding skills in order to consistently deliver a quality, entertaining, and professional experience to all guests
• Be able to execute all safety and operational processes involved in the rafting department, including raft guiding and river guarding along the bank
• Ensure thorough communication with other staff members, management, and entire Montgomery Whitewater team while on site, when necessary
• Provide accurate and consistent information to guests about facilities, programs, entertainment options, and programming costs
• Handle various guest concerns, compliments, and suggestions in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner

Qualifications:
• A minimum of 18 years of age. (17 and a graduating Senior)
• No prior commercial whitewater rafting experience is required if applicant plans to complete Montgomery Whitewater raft guide school.
• Comfortable with public speaking and constant guest interaction.
• Level of physical fitness and swimming capabilities must be appropriately developed to meet safety-related specific duties.
• Certifications: Current CPR, AED, and First Aid. (classes offered on-site)
• Energetic, communicates clearly and professionally with all staff and guests and enjoys working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

Physical Demands
• Very comfortable in and around Class II-IV moving water
• Be able to instruct and/or guide at least 3 whitewater trips per day and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrate ability to provide a high standard of professionalism and strong customer service skills
• Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist and grasp items
• Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
