Ms. J. & Co. is a dairy farm focused on the development of small ruminant dairy production in the United States. We are dedicated to establishing and improving a dairy sheep flock focused on genetics and production. Additionally, we serve as a source for sheep and goat farms to obtain genetic material, such as semen, from established European breeds, which allows farmers here in the U.S. access to better genetic improvement programs and counseling on getting these programs established.
We are looking for a dedicated individual with an interest in animal production and/or genetics. Previous milking or farm experience a plus, but training is provided. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) milking, freezing milk, bedding, feeding, barn upkeep, lamb care, and helping with herd health. You will be working directly with farm manager and serve as a connection between farm manager and other employees.
Must excel in communication, timeliness, and taking responsibility. On-farm training provided.
Hours can vary depending on the day, but must be available at 6 am Monday-Friday.
This position is approximately 30 hours per week. Hours can vary seasonally, especially during lambing periods.
There is opportunity for this to develop into a full time job for the right candidate.
Farm personnel are required to wear masks during their entire shift.
