Early Childhood Educator
Palo Alto Friends Nursery School is a non-profit, modified cooperative preschool program dedicated to providing a quality preschool experience with a play-based philosophy to families in Palo Alto and the surrounding communities.
We are currently seeking qualified early childhood educators to join our staff as a lead teacher working 30 hours per week or a teacher working 19 hours per week for the 2023-2024 school year. These are non-exempt, part-time positions.
We also currently have a position for our current school year on Wednesdays and/or Fridays from 8 am - 12:30 pm from January through the end of May, with the opportunity for additional on-call substitute teaching hours for the duration of this school year.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
1. Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment
2. Plan, develop, and carry out a developmentally appropriate classroom environment with your teaching team that reflects children�s learning and growth
3. Observe and maintain accurate records on children�s developmental progress in preparation for parent/teacher conferences
4. Keep parents informed about their child's progress
5. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with children, parents, and staff.
6. Supervision and support students and participating parents in the classroom
7. Teach a group of children ages 3-5
8. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Prefer AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
2. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification
3. Proof of completion of core ECE courses: (Child Development,
Early Childhood Education Principles, Early Childhood Education Curriculum,
Child, Family, and Community)
4. Physically, mentally and occupationally capable of performing the responsibilities of the position
5. Able to lift 50 lbs
6. 2 years of teaching experience in Early Childhood Education preferred
Salary commensurate with education and teaching experience
