Purpose

The Design Consultant is responsible for settings appointments, meeting with customers to determine design needs in the selection of tile, wood, stone, and accessory products of various colors textures, patterns, and design.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

One (1) year of interior design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company and prior retail sales experience preferred
Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus
Excellent customer service skills
Proficient in basic mathematical skills
Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
Willing to work retail hours
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite
Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Functions

Greets every customer in a helpful and courteous manner
Seeks new customers and supports store walk-in needs
Sells tile, wood, and stone products to complete the design plan
Meet and exceed established goals
Complete specialist certification training
Responsible for understanding and utilizing design applications i.e.; SketchUp, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler
Stay current on design trends and have understanding of trends in your market
Maintain a high level of customer contact and follow up
Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment)

Limited travel may be required by car
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy.
Physical/Sensory Requirements

Medium Work – Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The employee is often required to use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Store Hours:

Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
