Assistant Teacher

Stony Brook School welcomes Early Childhood Educators to apply for an opportunity to join our team as a part time assistant teacher for our Reggio-inspired Preschool. Job Summary:
The Assistant Teacher will work alongside two other classroom teachers to support all daily activities and help create and foster a nurturing, child-focused, play-based learning environment for children ages 2.9-6 years. This part time position requires availability Monday - Thursday from 9:00am - 2:00pm, with occasional additional hours as needed. Candidates should value inclusive and adaptive models of teaching, possess strong communication skills and have the ability to work in a collaborative and responsive environment. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in gaining more experience as an educator and learning more about the Reggio Emilia approach to Early Childhood Education. This is a part time, hourly position that has potential to grow into a full time, benefited teaching position this fall (2021).

Part Time, Year Around Position
Hours: 9:00am - 2:00pm, M-Th
Compensation: $18-$20/hour, Paid Time Off

Qualifications:
Candidates should be working towards or hold a degree in Early Childhood Education or a directly related field, have a background in emergent curriculum, and familiarity or desire to learn more about the Reggio Emilia approach and its guiding principles. EEC Teacher Certification preferred, although assistance is available; Background Check required; CPR and First Aid Certification required within 1 month of hire.
