Newt Gardens is an ecologically minded garden company focused on enhancing the native habitat and ecosystems. Started in 2020, we are still a growing business looking forward to continuing to positively impact Santa Cruz ecosystems.
We are a small company, with 4 employees currently. We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving the native landscape, cares about bugs, bees, and all pollinators, and is eager to learn and grow with our company.
We work primarily as a bi-weekly and monthly maintenance company, providing our customers with eco-minded garden care and plantings. We are looking for an experienced gardener to help us continue improving Santa Cruz gardens!
Minimum Qualifications
1+ years of related experience in landscaping/ gardening, fruit tree care, outdoor labor, horticulture or degree in horticulturally-related field
Basic knowledge of landscape maintenance tasks (mowing, pruning, weeding, planting)
Basic gardening knowledge (soil amendmending, plant names and types, plant care)
Ability to take and implement direction and feedback
Ability to perform manual work, lift heavy objects, bending, kneeling, lifting
Ability to work in most weather conditions
Ability to lift 50lbs
Valid CA driver license, clean driving record
Reliable transportation to work
Fluent in English
Desirable qualifications
Knowledge of CA native plants
Ecological and habitat restoration knowledge
Proficient in using power tools (drills, chop saw, chain saw)
Computer knowledge (Google docs, google calendar, gmail), confident navigating computer, quick learner
