The receptionist and administrative assistant will serve as the foundation's and museum's first point of contact to the public, and will provide administrative and museum support to the administrative director and the executive director. S/he will provide excellent customer service while maintaining discretion and professionalism. This position reports to the executive director. Proficiency in spoken and written German is strongly encouraged. We seek a candidate who is interested in German-American history, has an interest in non-profit museum work, social media experience, and a creative streak.

Tuesday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm. This is a part-time position that consists of 28 hours per week.

Primary responsibilities include:

Professionally answer telephone line, screen and direct calls. Monitor main line voice mail messages.
Meet and greet visitors as they arrive, and advise appropriate staff members.
Open and close the museum's exhibit space
Receive and distribute mail and deliveries
Assist executive director with correspondence, social media posts, and possibly blog posts
Keep the visitor's log, manage gift shop sales, and keep records of inventory and income.
Collect museum entrance fees
Update internal contact lists including online subscriber lists
Assist with events and museum tours, including some evening events
Keep track of our luggage storage program
Assist with managing the intern program
Serve as backup for acknowledgement letters and for updating and maintaining records in Quickbooks
Perform other duties as assigned
Abilities, Experience and Skills

Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in an area related to office administrative or museum support. A non-profit background is preferred.
Professional demeanor and appearance
Organizational skills, attention to detail, solid time management, ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and solve problems with minimal supervision
Ability to take the initiative with projects to work both independently and as a team member
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft office skills are required
Job Type: Part-time, but a possibility to extend to five days per week (Saturday hours would be 11 am to 4 pm) with 10 days of paid vacation and five paid holidays.

Pay: $18.00 per hour (plus $300 stipend for healthcare)
