A Stoney Creek Urban Initiative Summer Leader is the cornerstone of the Stoney Creek Experience. He or She will have the opportunity to directly pour into the lives of campers creating long-lasting memories and relationships. Every staff member will participate in camp activities, lessons and team building activities. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills while being poured into my trained staff.
Key Job Functions
Counselors at Stoney Creek play an integral role in campers lives. Counselors stay with campers in cabins and walk with them throughout the day to various sports and activities. From Bible study to meals to sports activities to night programs, counselors exemplify Christ in how they interact with the campers.
The Ropes course instructors facilitate the use of the high ropes course, zip lines and climbing wall. They are responsible for the safety of all persons participating in these activities as well as the daily maintenance of the elements and equipment. Training is required for these positions. Ropes Course instructors will also hold other responsibilities at camp such as Co-counselor, Work Crew, etc.
If you are skilled vocally, musically or have the creative talent for entertainment, Stoney Creek can use you this summer! We hire a variety of positions for our program team including those who play drums, percussion, bass, guitar (acoustic and electric), keyboard, and vocalists. These positions are typically combined with other responsibilities as assigned by the Camp Director.
Lifeguards are responsible for opening day swim tests, daily activity classes, and other activities relating to the program as designated by the Camp Director. Stoney Creek's water venues include pool, Blobs, water zip lines, kayaks and several water toys. Current nationally recognized lifeguard certification is required. Stoney Creek will work with you to get recertified if your certification has expired. Lifeguards duties will be in conjunction with other roles at camp such as Co-counselor, Work Crew, etc.
Kitchen staff play an important role in the kitchen, dining hall and the outdoor kitchen. They assist our resident staff and should have some experience in food preparation and a desire to serve. Additional training is required for food service. Working closely with the staff, responsibilities include food preparation, washing dishes, setting and clearing tables, and assisting the overall program through socializing with campers and theme night participation.
Photographers must have the ability to capture exciting and relevant pictures for use on our website and social media posts and for camper keepsakes. Photographers will also be responsible for making a photo video for each camp session that is shown at Say-So. Cameras will be provided by Stoney Creek. Photographers will be assigned other program responsibilities by the Camp Director.
The Nurse position requires the following degree: LVN, RN, PA or MD. Responsibilities include providing quality health care to campers and staff, administering medications and assisting in the transportation of sick/injured individuals to medical facilities. The Health Center staff should have the love and patience required to work with kids and counselors.
Office staff play an integral role in getting campers to camp! From receiving and getting missing information on arriving campers and groups to making spreadsheets, running the Ranch Store, completing paperwork projects for the Camp Director and joyfully answering the camp phone, a positive attitude demonstrates our mission of sharing Christ with urban youth.
Experience and Qualifications Requirements
- Commitment to the mission and ministry philosophy of Stoney Creek Ranch Urban Initiative.
- 1 - 3 years of experience working with youth.
- Strength in connecting with and building relationships with others.
