Tax and Accounting Intern

Financial Groove is looking to hire a Tax and Accounting Intern/Assistant. The intern position will focus on IRS Representation and Year End Planning for the end of 2022, and tax documents for income tax preparation and processing during tax season 2023. We are accepting applications until October 14 and will start interviewing the following week (after the October 17 tax extension deadline date). Internship is approximately 6-7 months starting in late October or early November 2022. Position is either Part-Time or Full-Time depending on availability. Starting pay is $16 per hour for the first 3 months and a possible raise for the second half of the internship into tax season. We are also looking to transition this position to an official position after the internship if applicant is interested in staying with the company.

Position Duties Include:
-Verify taxpayer data and information
-Assist with maintenance of deduction and depreciation documentation
-Apply accounting knowledge for client write up services
-Produce required records for completing business tax returns and IRS collection case and audit substantiation
-Prepare and file sales tax and other non-income based tax returns
-Prepare and perform account reconciliations for the monthly closing process
-Other duties as assigned
-Assemble tax return packages for client/government filing, including e-filing
-Manage, organize and update relevant data using database applications
-Work directly with a team of tax preparers, accountants and bookkeepers

-Microsoft Office Suite with extensive use of Outlook and Excel

-Exceptional organization skills, ability to prioritize multiple task and attention to detail
-Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Excel
-Ability to handle confidential and sensitive client matters
-Ability to communicate effectively and deal courteously with others
-Ability to read, interpret and follow instructions
-Quick learner who seeks to expand knowledge of partnership tax procedures and processes
-Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
