AmeriCorps VISTA Program Specialist

This position requires:

The Program Specialist will advance the youth and it�s community by providing resources and opportunities to thrive. Committed to serving poverty-stricken families, adults and children with humanitarian programs and resources that include education, family support, food programs and local community engagement events. This role will serve those in need and ensure sustainability of our services to the community by bringing community awareness and support to services TBF provides.

Member Activities:

1. Identify sites and support staff in the application and enrollment process as needed to ensure full
enrollment.
2. Conduct site visits and share observations/findings of site visits with supervisor.
3. Create and update site menus weekly/monthly and provide to sites and vendors.
4. Develop and implement a plan to sort and label donated essential items provided to community.
5. Development of action plans for continuous quality improvement to maintain TBF social and economic
sustainability.

The Bailey Foundation�s (TBF) Volunteer Program is integral to its mission. The program is designed to increase awareness of hunger issues in Missouri and Illinois while engaging community members to be part of the solution. Volunteers provide their time and talent in many ways: food sorting and packing, warehouse, office support, community outreach, and working at events. As with most organizations, all our departments could use additional support. The Bailey Foundation wants to broaden the volunteer program so that we can utilize more volunteers at events, in the office, community outreach, in our child and adult nutrition programs, and in operations.
Member Activities:

1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive recruitment, orientation, training, retention, and recognition
plan for individual and group volunteers to ensure that all volunteers are knowledgeable and feel valued.
2. Create database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their
skills, keeping volunteers informed and conveying the Foundation�s purpose to the public.
3. Develop and maintain complete and accurate records including volunteer policies, procedures, position
descriptions, standards of conduct and, where applicable, criminal background checks.
4. Build a volunteer application form that is suitable for short-term and long-term volunteer needs.
5. Work with program staff to develop a system to ensure the volunteer engagement process works
smoothly from initial interest to actual fulfillment of hours.

Other Details:
o Project Period: February 7, 2022 to February 6, 2023
o 35 hours per week with the flexibility to work more as needed; One-year commitment
