Sport & Social Group provides sports leagues for adults. The organization has grown to over 130,000 members playing in a huge variety of sports year-round and has a vision for growth of 1 million members playing in multi-markets. Currently, we operate in two U.S. cities and eight Canadian cities.

Grand Rapids Sport & Social Club is perfect for the Grand Rapids 18 and up, professionals. We offer a unique opportunity to meet other physically and socially active individuals. Ideal for people who may have recently moved to the Grand Rapids area or just looking for a reason to get out of the house on a weekday! From Dodgeball, Kickball, to Flag Football, everything we do is coed.

How We Do It

Co-ed teams play fun, non-competitive games of coed sports. After each game we all meet at our partnered bar for our club's social happy hour(s), where we'll receive substantial drink and food discounts!

GRSSC is for people who like sports, but LOVE to socialize! GRSSC keeps you active, introduces you to tons of new friends, and gets you out of the house on weeknights. Grand Rapids Sport & Social Club is where Grand Rapids comes to play!

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Creating graphics and design layouts for print ads, flyers, email newsletters, the GRSSC homepage, blog, and social media accounts
- Collaborating with the marketing department and support campaigns with design solutions
- Learning from industry leading designers, how to apply design theory to marketing campaigns and advance techniques for software ranging from Adobe Illustrator, Corel, and Picasa to make pixel perfect illustrations
- Incorporating UI/UX best practices in website design and layout, and adapt designs for mobile formats
- Assisting in managing day to day operations in the office
- Establishing a relationship with vendors, facilities, and the community to support our growing brand
- Creating a social experience and environment for league members
- Developing new paths and opportunities for sponsorship
- Attending league social events
- Coordinate and plan marketing/promotional events around the community
- Assisting in managing day to day operations in the office

- Represent the brand while working with sponsors & partners
- Managing equipment during events
- Be the host during our social events
- Creating a social experience and environment for league members
- Develop new paths and opportunities for sponsorship
- Extend our brand reach in to new markets and demographics
- Assist in advertising campaigns
- Become a social rockstar and life of the party at our partner bars

QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful candidates will come to the role with a strong background in marketing techniques
- Prior experience creating graphics and a solid grasp of design concepts
- Comfort working in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, Corel, Wordpress, and Illustrator
- Enthusiasm for the design process and attentiveness to different project goals
- Pursuing or completed a Bachelor or Master degree in a related field
- Ability to use or, learn to use, various computer software programs
-Detail oriented
- Ability to work as part of, and lead a team that collaborates effectively with colleagues
- written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of standard practices and demonstrated experiences in event management, hospitality & tourism and/or special events administration
- Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm; strong communication and presentation skills
- Analytic skills to: identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent, logical decisions
- Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced life choices
-Extremely outgoing & Energetic
- Be willing and reliable to work variable hours

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Intern(s) may use own equipment such as cameras, video equipment, etc. although not necessary as GRSSC provides equipment as well.
- Interns will be eligible for course credit designated by their University/College.
- Internship will be unpaid, however paid commissions may be earned from customer referrals and all Interns will be eligible to register for a free season with GRSSC upon completion of their internship.
- Internship 1 semester (16 weeks) in length - May-August
