Marketing Internship

WeXL’s mission is to champion diverse people from untapped communities by elevating their stories and providing them key tools to succeed through mentorship, resources, and network support. Based in the Bay Area, WeXL has worked with companies such as Autodesk, Anthem, Streamlabs Logitech (through their #Creators4BIPOC initiative) to help promote workforce diversity and create opportunities for creators based within the WeXL Impact Network (also known as WIN).

As the Marketing Intern, you will have the opportunity to work side by side with our CEO and the WeXL’s marketing team. As the Marketing Intern, you will drive brand awareness, network and grow our community, conduct research for best practices, find event opportunities, and learn to use social media-based programs.

This role reports directly to the CEO and will have weekly Zoom meetings with team members to discuss upcoming events and brainstorm together. You will be provided with marketing training but will still be expected to do research and come up with creative and unique ideas.

What we want to see is someone who will take initiative, be creative, take risks, and make this experience their own.

• Basic knowledge of Videography, Photography, Photoshop and Canva
• Experience in social media content creation and blogging

Skills & Knowledge
• A solid understanding of design & storytelling through content marketing
• Incredible attention-to-detail
• Copywriting and editing skills
• A good sense of humor

• Assist with planning and maintaining an organized content calendar
• Sourcing images, asset creation, writing copy and posting to social media
• Optimize organic content for engagement and visibility
• Respond to all communications across our social media platforms
• Proactively uncover and join conversations within our community, or target communities, and be an active participant
• Engage with our community and content posted by all partners, content creators, and influencers to maintain friendly, engaged and informed relationships with our community
• Research events that would be beneficial to WeXL org (either as a booth, a guest speaker, or as an attendee)
• Research grant opportunities that would be beneficial to WeXL
• Conduct ongoing research for high-growth engagement strategies, industry, and market trends to help inform our content strategy
• Track, measure, and analyze performance on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
• Read, research, and find interesting leads that are aligned with the WeXL Mission
• Create and foster relationships, and write pieces about them
• Optimize organic content for engagement and visibility
• Conduct ongoing research for high-growth engagement strategies, industry, and market trends to help inform our content strategy

Spring Internship Orientation: January 11, 2021 - January 15, 2021
Internship Duration: January 19, 2021 - April 30, 2021

• Undergraduate student majoring in Sales, Communication, Marketing, or Advertising (other majors may be considered on a case by case basis)
