Two purely rotational temporary positions in Annual Internship Program which are likely to continue in coming years have opened up in Eastern Engineering Solutions Inc.’s Cambridge (77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge MA 02139) and newly opened Merritt Island (Kennedy Space Center, 39B, Merritt Island, Florida) office beginning immediately. Details are as follows.

Job title: Intern

Job description: This internship position is related to participation in various activities of organization primarily related to metallurgy, engineering, office work, project planning, management, and documentation. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to,

a) Basic understanding of metallurgical engineering processes (extractive metallurgy, chemical metallurgy, metallurgical thermodynamics, equation balancing, heat transfer, mass transfer, nuclear metallurgy, physical metallurgy, and mechanical metallurgy)
b) Ability to collect, ensemble, analyze, interpret, and present data in literature and laboratory experiments.
c) Daily work scheduling, tasking, actions, achievements, and end of day reporting.
d) Weekly statistical analysis to ascertain current week performance and determine future (next week) trend and report writing.
e) Biweekly presentation on fortnight performance, achievements, and next fortnight tasking.
f) Monthly comprehensive report in the form of a scholarly article enlisting and enumerating monthly achievements (task winning, work scheduling, method of approach and achievements (efficiency ((task completed / assigned and won) x 100)) employing advanced trend analysis models and preferable submission to a reputed peer reviewed journal of field.

Education and background: This position to open to full time enrolled undergraduate and graduate (Masters) program students major in ABET accredited Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, or Materials Science and Engineering only. Internship must be part of the program, must have credit and applicant is required to furnish a letter from their respective faculty adviser or program coordinator prior joining.

Desired skills: Conversant with Microsoft 365® office suite or similar, MS Project®, Minitab®, Physical metallurgy, Crystallography, Phase diagrams, Extractive metallurgy, Calculus and analytic geometry, differential and partial differential equations, integration methods, numerical methods, and basic AutoCAD.

Duration: Three (03) months.

Work hours: Monday - Friday, 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM

Eligibility: These positions are open to locals only (Non immigrants). Candidates with extensive international experience with willingness to work outside of normal US business hours (international time zones) are preferred. This is onsite role and strict performance criteria will be followed. No off-duty work is required or will be assigned.

Remuneration: This is an unpaid position. Company highly encourages, and fully supports applicants to seek external support or arrange their own funding.

Travel allowance (TA) and daily allowance (DA): Company will not cover relocation allowance, daily allowance, and travel allowance. Accepted candidates are highly encouraged to arrange their own boarding, lodging and transport.
