Branding and Messaging Summer Intern

Position Title: Branding and Messaging Intern Employer: United Way of Greater Knoxville

The United Way of Greater Knoxville is seeking a Branding and Messaging intern to assist in the development and implementation of a branding and messaging strategy that raises awareness, creates a positive image, motivates volunteers, supports fundraising, and reinforces community impact. The intern will report directly to the Branding and Messaging Coordinator and will also work closely with the Marketing and Fundraising staff and volunteers.
May 2021 – August 2021
10-20 hours per week. Typically 2 to 3 days per week. Schedule negotiable and some hours may be outside of regular 8am -5pm business hours.
$10/hour up to 20 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
 Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills as well as time management skills
 Must have ability to work independently as well as in partnership with team
 Having a computer and access to graphic design and layout software is preferred, but not required
 Must have experience with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
 Must have enthusiasm for the design process and attentiveness to different project goals
 Comfort working in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign and/or Illustrator is preferred


 Create clear, creative and engaging communications for print, flyers, email newsletters, social media, web, event invitations and various other platforms
 Work with the Branding and Messaging staff and volunteers to position United Way as a positive household name in the community and support the department/organizational strategies
 Assist the Branding and Messaging staff and volunteers with generating new and innovative tactics to increase fundraising and communicate United Way’s message. (Educating the community as to what UW does with their donations is an ongoing messaging need.)
