Architectural Design Intern
Tracy’s Custom Home Designs, established in 2006, is a small design firm that has shown continued growth in the past decade, and focuses on the custom home market in the rural areas East and Northeast of Dallas. We are looking to hire a summer intern to join our team. Being that we support custom home builders in the rural areas, we design various styles of homes, based on the customer’s desires.
We are seeking someone with a passion for residential design. We use Chief Architect as our design software. Although preferred, prior experience with Chief Architect is not required, and training will be provided.
At Tracy’s Custom Homes we help our customers’ visions come to life by providing unique floor plans as well as 3D renderings of the interior and exterior of their project. Moving walls, doors and re-arranging bathrooms becomes easy and you get to use your creative side to apply materials and colors to the project to help sell the plan to the homeowner. You will be working on multiple projects each day. Check out some of our work at ------------.
EDUCATION
Preferred Architecture, Construction Science/Engineering, or Interior Design degree Plan
GPA: 2.75 minimum
EXPERIENCE
Experience with Chief Architect, AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD or another CAD system
Proficient user of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Basic Knowledge of Residential Construction preferred
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement Design Changes to customer’s plans using Chief Architect
Generate 3D Renderings to upload to customer’s weblink using Chief Architect
Drafting for final plans – Dimension floor plans and Elevations. Understand what is required on a set of plans for a builder to reproduce the house in the field
Cataloging Existing Plans into Database based on design criteriaGenerate CAD details for use on multiple projects
Understand basic home building principles. Standard appliance dimensions, door opening requirements, Kitchen Triangle, Ceiling Heights
