As the Trauma Recovery Social Worker, you will be a vital asset to our community by providing counseling, resources, and training, particularly in situations of gun/gang violence, substance abuse, bullying, harassment, domestic violence, and other issues. You will get to create and manage a youth counseling program, a volunteer corps network, and case referral program.


This will include:


Creating a system of mental health evaluation processes that can provide treatment and support for staff, volunteers, students, families and/or clients.
Providing appropriate support and/or referral advice to any in our community in need of help with mental health issues such as trauma, depression, or other issues.
Educating youth about social issues like (but not limited to) substance abuse and domestic violence.
Training staff and volunteers about mental health issues and how to help people they serve to help create a culture that prioritizes mental health.
Building a team of trained volunteers to help youth at risk.
Organizing community events and training in partnership with other agencies to raise awareness about mental health issues.
Providing emergency assistance as needed.
Contacting the authorities if suspecting a youth is at risk in their home.
Maintaining confidential data of all clients served.
Working with grant writers to conduct surveys and provide data for grant purposes.

To be successful in this role, you will need to support the mission, vision and values of MY Project USA and have:


Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy or equivalent training.
Current Ohio LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC preferred.
Prior experience with refugee, immigrant and underserved communities required.
Prior experience with at-risk youth is a plus.
Experience of starting up or managing a similar project/department is a plus.
Experience and/or training in the principles of trauma informed care and in trauma treatment.
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
No prior criminal offenses. Successfully pass FBI/BCI background check.
Understanding of when/how to apply Mandatory Reporting requirements.
