K-Step Montessori currently operates 5 childcare centers in the Los Angeles county contracted with the Department of Social Services. We have been educating children and their families for over 40 years throughout Southern California. Today, we provide childcare for more than 250 diverse children (infants and up), and encourage the individual role that each child brings to our school. We are a close knit community that promotes continuous education in the child development field for our teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 6 units in Child Development
  • BA or MA is valued
  • Units in the Core Child Development Principles
  • Experience in a Preschool classrooms setting
  • Effective Communication
  • Passion for working with young children
  • Experience with Curriculum Development
  • Criminal Background Clearance/ Fingerprint Clearance
  • Maintain effective working relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Skilled at positive discipline and managing large groups of children

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide supervision, care, support and education to children.
  • Introduce concepts for developmental progress.
  • Work with infants/toddlers/preschoolers in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter
  • Follow the Montessori Curriculum and Practices
  • Plan and carry out a curriculum that targets different areas of child development, such as language, motor, and social skills
  • Organize activities so children can learn about the world, explore interests, and develop talents
  • Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime
  • Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children
  • Keep records of the students’ progress, routines, and interests, and keep parents informed about their child’s development

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $15.50 - $19.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
