Job description
Develop a careful and creative program based on the guidelines of Creative Curriculum
Observe and assess each child to monitor and enhance their developmental progress
Track children’s progress and maintain a child portfolio
Ensure that routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic and consistent with solid child development principles
Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development
Maintain confidentiality of child and family information at all times
Collaborate with other educators
Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Requirements:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or
An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree In human services field and 3 years of experience working with children
Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and early educational methods
Familiarity with state requirement licensing guidelines outlined in PA Chapter 3270 relating to safety and sanitation guidelines
Excellent organizational, communication and instructional skills
Ability to secure PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal and FBI Background clearances
Cool-tempered, friendly, flexible and reliable
Ability to collaborate effectively with staff and parents
Must be available for occasional staff, parent, and school meetings during evening hours
Preferred certification in child CPR
Possess the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
