Here are the specifics:

Responsibilities:
The Special Education (Mild/Moderate) Teacher typically provides differential instruction to students with a primary disability of Emotional Disturbance and Autism. Instruction is individual and in small groups of 6-9 students. The Teacher facilitates instructional activities coordinating with Residential and Therapy staff members. Teachers ensure that each student makes appropriate progress on IEP goals, and that accommodations and modifications are implemented. Teachers also establish procedures that result in a consistently safe and nurturing environment for students and staff.

Duties:
? Provide direct instruction in academic development, career / transition development, communication skills, and social / emotional development skills.
? Possess knowledge of special education laws and procedures.
? Develop legally defensible IEPs including individual goals aligned to New
California Standards to provide educational benefit to the students.
? Implement student’s IEPs as written in accordance to the law for the purpose of providing educational benefit to students.
? Assist students to develop a plan to graduate from high school with a diploma or certificate of completion.
? Monitor students’ progress utilizing data that reflects student performance, behavior and adjust instruction as needed based on analysis of the data.
? Provide students with specialized instruction to meet their unique needs.
? Utilize a wide variety of curricular resources to motivate students.
? Collaborate with other teachers, therapist, residential staff and others to implement a high-quality individualized program.
? Provide timely feedback to students, parents, staff and supportive agencies based on data to coordinate services.
? Train and provide work direction to guide assigned support staff members.
? Communicate effectively.
? Complete all required reports in a timely manner.
? Maintain student confidentiality.
? Perform other duties as assigned for the purpose of facilitating student learning.
? Ability to work with all staff, families and agencies in an STRTP facility (formerly level 14 residential treatment facility).
? Ability to plan, organize and prepare IEP’s, behavior plans and transition plans for students with severe disabilities.
? Write IEP’s designed to produce educational benefit.
? Administer and interpret a variety of current academic assessments.
? Implement each students’ IEP as it is written in accordance with the law.
? Provide students with specialized instruction based on their unique strengths and needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Mild to Moderate Special Education Credential, California (or eligibility for an Intern Program)
Experience working with adolescents at least 1 year
Valid California Driver’s License
Department of Justice and FBI Fingerprint Response
Bi-lingual stipend available, Full-time
