An on-the-go, friendly family based in Austin, TX is seeking an engaging, detail-oriented private educator to join them in caring for their 6-year-old daughter!

Location: Austin, TX
Ages of children: 6 years old
Start date/Contract dates: As soon as they find the right fit!
Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 40 hours per week with the general schedule falling on Monday-Friday from 1pm-8pm or similar. The family looks forward to working with their candidate to develop a schedule that supports both educationally-focused after-school care, as well as planning and prep time. A candidate who is open to providing some childcare-related support in addition to private educator duties will be greatly appreciated!
Compensation: The family is offering $45-50+/hour based on the guaranteed 40+ hour/week schedule, which equates to annualized base compensation of $90-105+k/year dependent on experience.
Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, health, vision, and dental insurance, a vehicle for professional use, and relocation assistance based on candidate needs and the full benefits package.
Live-in/Live-out: Live-out. The family may be open to providing temporary housing for the perfect relocation candidate. Private, separate accommodations will always be provided while traveling and the family looks forward to traveling more in the years ahead.

Household dynamic:
This kind and open-minded family is looking forward to finding an educator to support their daughter! At 6 years old, she loves spending time with her friends, is described by her parents as being sweet and sensitive, and has a deep interest in science and math. Her parents have been bolstering her passions by providing additional learning materials and math classes, and are excited to find someone who can provide an immersive educational experience that meets her where she’s at. She will be attending a local school in the 2022-2023 school year, so the educator will primarily support her after school and while traveling with the family.
This family loves learning, and curiosity is one of their family values. In addition to learning, they enjoy trying new foods and traveling whenever they get the chance. Both parents work outside of the home, so a candidate who thrives with independence but collaborates and communicates well with parents will thrive. The family typically travels 2-4 weeks out of the year, and will be spending a month in New Mexico this summer! A travel-ready educator who is excited to find learning opportunities during family trips will be valued. The family recently relocated to Austin from the Bay Area, and look forward to building their support network and welcoming an educator to their family team.

Ideal candidate:
This position is ideal for someone who is playful, fosters independence, loves science, and is proactive in researching or creating a developmentally appropriate and engaging science curriculum for a child who learns above grade level. Someone who has proven classroom, private education, camp counseling, or similar experience will be a perfect fit! Their child has a nut allergy that requires day-to-day support and they have just completed immunotherapy. Confidence in managing routines and strong attention to detail is important (with training!).
Responsibilities include creating engaging projects and experiments that follow the child’s interest in science, biology, physiology, the environment, and beyond! Being able to follow the child’s interest and dig deep is key, and helping bring the classroom curriculum to life to meet their intellectual grade level will be a big part of this role. The ideal candidate will be open to some nanny-type responsibilities like pick-ups, drop-offs, child-related meal prep, and being a general team player!
The family looks forward to traveling more in the future, with an interest in spending extended time in India! While not at all a requirement for the role, they would love to work with a candidate who speaks another language like Hindi or French.

Qualifications:
Valid Driver’s license
At least 3 years of professional teaching experience in a classroom or homeschool setting
Bachelor’s degree
Passport or ability to acquire one
Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to start date in accordance with applicable laws
Ability to swim and comfortability caring for children in and near water
Safe, experienced driver with a clean driving record
