Full Job Description
We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic full-time and part-time Life Enrichment Assistants for our community located in scenic Gainesville, Virginia. The Life Enrichment Assistant (LEA) supports the Life Enrichment Director (LED) in developing, planning and implementing social, fitness and recreational activities for the residents; designing and implementing special events for the residents, resident family members and prospective residents; and assisting with tours and marketing events.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Life Enrichment Assistant’s primary duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to:

Assisting with planning and implementing programs and events which provide socialization opportunities, fitness and wellness activities, educational and recreational programs, as well as spiritual life support based on the needs and preferences of the residents.
Assisting with the creation a fun and innovative recreational program for our residents, including entertainment, site-seeing, local outings, and other activities.
Assess and document on the resident interest form the interests and activity needs of our residents at the time of move-in and throughout their residency with us. Orient all residents to the activity program and how to access activities.
Assist with organization of and participate in monthly resident interest activity meetings. In addition, provide clear support and timely response to resident’s ideas and interests and implement whenever possible into the activity program.
Encourage and foster a resident and community based volunteer program.
Stimulate residents by offering activities that promote mental, intellectual, creative, spiritual and physical well-being.
Support the LED in the creation, planning and develop of monthly activities calendar and newsletter in a timely manner and post in designed areas of community or as directed by the Executive.
Help support and provide the LED information on residents’ activity so they can be recorded in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy and procedures. This includes documentation related to: leisure activities; incidents and observations; reporting any changes in resident’s physical condition and/or behavior; visitors; etc. Observes the health and emotional condition of each resident and promptly reports all changes to the supervisor.
Comply with all state and company guidelines.
Maintains a clean, safe and orderly activity area for residents to enjoy.
Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers
May provide transportation for our residents, as scheduled in company vehicle, to doctor’s appointments and outings.
Work effectively with other members of the department.
Visit residents to determine their preference for programs.
Encourage resident assistance with and participation in scheduled activities
May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficient in use of computers and computer software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) and standard office equipment.
Ability to work evening, weekends and minimal travel.
Must be flexible, innovative, persistent and committed to successful completion of assignments.
Maintains neat appearance, good hygiene and appropriate attire.
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information to develop alternative solutions both alone and with groups.
Able to clearly present information through the spoken word. Can accurately communicate, providing the necessary level of detail even under stressful or demanding conditions. Ensures a positive attitude and team orientation is exhibited in verbal and non-verbal communication.
Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, residents’ families, visitors and Team Members.
Protects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the resident, Team Member, residence, company information and records.
Maintains safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
Participates in training, in services, and attends meetings as required.
High school diploma.
Appropriate experience in a social or recreation program, one of which was full time in a resident activity program for the elderly in both an Assisted Living and Memory Care setting.
Valid FL Driver’s License.
Basic typing skills essential along with word processing software, preferably in a Microsoft Windows environment.
Must possess high-energy/enthusiasm, be a self-starter, have excellent time management skills, a strong initiative, and superior verbal/public speaking skills
