A beautiful Montessori school in Berkeley is seeking a full-time lead toddler teacher with classroom experiences as both a lead teacher and an assistant, between the hours of approximately 8-4. We are searching for a lead teacher with a �Montessori heart;� someone who truly believes in the work of Dr. Montessori and wants to share the gifts of the prepared environment and child centered learning with our community.

Requirements:
1. A Bachelor's degree and a Montessori credential
2. Teaching and community leadership experience

7. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., sit on the floor and stand for much of the work day

Duties:
1. Teach the children in a Montessori environment using the Montessori philosophy and method.
2. Plan and implement the curriculum.
3. Create materials and activities in the areas of daily living, sensory learning, math, language development, art, music, gardening and cooking.
4. Encourage the children to learn about their social and cultural environments.
5. Support and prepare the children for rest, lunch and outside activities.
6. Contribute to the observation and evaluation of the children�s progress and complete written reports.
7. Conduct parent /teacher conferences and communicate with parents professionally.
8. Plan and conduct parent meetings to help parents gain an understanding of the program, child development, Montessori education and the growth of their own children.
9. Supervise program staff, attend and contribute to staff meetings and staff evaluations.
10. Adjust schedule, as needed, in the absence of assistant teachers.
11. Maintain the safety, order and attractiveness of the school.
12. Wash, clean, disinfect dishes, materials, surfaces and general workspaces, as well as washing/ folding classroom laundry (we have laundry onsite).

The head teacher is expected to share responsibility for the over-all smooth functioning of the program, to communicate regularly and openly with other staff persons and do all that they can do to promote the welfare and growth of the children.

Compensation
-Compensation depends on experience and is incredibly competitive- $63,500 starting salary (approximately $30.53//hr)
-7hours of work day with 1 hour paid lunch (8 hour shift)
-28 Paid School Holidays + 12 Personal Vacation Days (=40 paid days off each year) + 12 Paid Sick Days
-Hourly pay depends on level of education, and experience, with 3%+ increase after 1 year, pending evaluation
-Full employer paid benefit packages ranging from $7,000-$13,000 including employee health and dental coverage, effective immediately for all employees working 36 hours per week or more
-Employer paid health, dental and life insurance coverage is offered by the school.
-Employer paid retirement contributions are offered at 5% of the salary after one year of work. Life insurance provided after 1 year.
