High School English Teacher
Saints Peter and Paul High School, a Catholic, coed, college preparatory high school serving grades 9-12 on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, has an opening for a full-time English teacher starting in 2023-2024 school year. Candidates should have experience across the various disciplines.
MISSION STATEMENT
Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School endeavors to graduate students who are strong in mind, body, and spirit and who can think critically, creatively, and globally in a faith-based environment where they join with faculty in a quest for wisdom, knowledge, and grace before God and their fellow human beings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Teach 4-5 sections of English with an average class size of 18.
* Work to ensure academic excellence by fully knowing students and adapting curricula to meet their needs
* Prepare students for the challenges and rigor of higher education
* Collaborate in the design and implementation of an integrated curriculum
* Collaborate with peers and specialists to engage students in deep, interdisciplinary project work.
* Provide active mentoring and student life leadership
* Foster the academic, social and spiritual mission of Saints Peter Paul High School to empower young people in mind, body, and spirit.
* Engage in ongoing communication with parents/guardians
Candidates should be able to demonstrate flexibility, creativity, enthusiasm, professionalism, and an understanding of the unique needs of young people.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
* Demonstrated mastery of content knowledge and the ability to drive student growth.
* Commitment to the whole-person development of young people
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
The course of study is exclusively college preparatory. A tracking system for ability is used, consisting of four levels: Academic, Honors and Advanced Placement. Advanced Placement courses are offered in English Composition Literature, English Language Composition, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, United States Government Politics, United States History, Biology, European History, Studio Art, and Chemistry.
ACCREDITATION AND MEMBERSHIPS
The school is accredited or recognized by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, The College Board, and by the Maryland State Department of Education and holds membership in the National Catholic Education Association and the National Association of Independent Schools.

Saints Peter and Paul High School offers a diverse array of student programs, athletic, and leadership opportunities at the high school. The Athletic Department provides 16 sports with over 90% of our students participating, including Soccer, Basketball, Field Hockey, Swimming, Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Cross Country, Sailing, Women’s Volleyball, and Ice Hockey. Clubs and activities include Performing Arts, International Club, Key Club, Respect Life Club, Student Government, Eco-Discovery, Psychology Club, Poetry Club, Robotics, and ACE Engineering.
