We are a CCOF certified organic heirloom tomato farm that is expanding into additional produce production. This year, Windrift Farm has expanded into a 3rd location. We are a fast growing farm/company located in Petaluma, CA, that is focused on quality, consistency and integrity. It is our mission to grow the highest quality produce; we connect organic farming practices, fundamental importance of live soil health, with 20+ years of expertise.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
3+ years experience working on vegetable farms, is great with plants, has past managerial experience, and works well with others. Ability to speak some Spanish (bi-lingual) would be a plus. This person must have a clean driving record, and has the ability to safely operate farm tractors, farm trucks and delivery vehicles. Must be physically able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, kneel, engage in repetitive job duties, and work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
The Farm Manager will follow directions from the Farm Owners, and will be expected to lead workers while over seeing and making sure all work is getting done properly. They must be able to engage and teach new employees how assigned work must be completed in a timely and kind manner. This person should be friendly, willing to answer questions, hard working, self directed, and honest. The Farm Manager will be responsible for over seeing and being hands on in all aspects of farm management and farm related activities.
Job Duties Include:
-Managing and also working side by side with labor crews and produce harvesters/sorters and packers.
-Land and fence management.
-All tractor related duties.
-Operate a string trimer, bush hog mower, rototiller, and other farm machinery.
-Operate pallet jack and front loader with forks.
-Crop planning and planting.
-Seedling and transplant management.
-Irrigation setup and watering schedule management/maintenance.
-Record keeping and harvest management.
-Quality packing skills.
-Preparing products for delivery: Professional labeling, boxing and shrink wrapping pallets and delivery management.
-Follow COVID-19 and safety protocols.
-Self and co-workers time management for payroll.
The Manager will be paid based on experience $18-20 an hr. The season will begin in February. Windrift Farm would like to find the right person to become part of our permanent team.
