Planetarians makes whole cuts from brewers' spent yeast and soybean meal, combining the power of both worlds: plant-based proteins and fermentation. Using fermented by-products, we reduced CapEx and costs below animal meat. Zero waste process resulted in 9x lower carbon footprint than leading plant-based brands. We tested and optimized the process at the pilot facility, now scaling it into commercial production.


Job Overview

Extrusion Engineer would be responsible for the day-to-day execution of production runs and maintenance-related activities, including setup, startup, operation, troubleshooting, disassembly and cleaning of processing and packaging equipment. Perform light mechanical and electrical repairs, inspection and troubleshooting to maintain equipment in good sanitary and working condition.


20% of the time would be dedicated to R&D.

Responsibilities:

Follow and operate equipment by instructions for machine line operations and our company safety policy.
Perform manual tasks such as loading and supplying production line items, reworking products, and packaging products.
Troubleshoot mechanical or operational errors.
Perform quality assurance checks and testing compliance according to company and/or design facility standards.
Provide general plant, production line, and facility clean up

Skills & Experience

Subject matter expertise in operating extrusion equipment (on-site training provided)
Creative, independent problem-solver with agility to deal with changing priorities
Ability to perform physically strenuous tasks, including lifting, moving, and carrying ingredients and equipment, including items weighing up to 50 pounds frequently
Forklift-trained or willing to be trained and certified
Proficient in MS Office
