The Digital Organizer will help coordinate the day-to-day online organizing strategy for ICIJ programs, events, campaigns, and organization in the Inland Empire.

They will remain in close communication with Communications Coordinator, ICIJ staff & coalition partners to create and maintain an active, online network of members and supporters from - communities of color engaged in ICIJ activities. They will help expand and elevate the public image of ICIJ & ensure the message, goals and principles of the coalition are well understood by members and supporters. They will work closely with Program Directors and staff to stay fully informed regarding ICIJ activities to further advance the communications goals of our programs and campaigns.

The Digital Organizer plans, strategizes, and implements the online education and online engagement of ICIJ members and supporters through text, email, mobile and/or social media.
Under supervision of the Communications Coordinator, they will manage the digital designs, data, email, social media, mobile communications, and digital fundraising. Uses social media to test and learn the best methods to grow audiences in priority geographies key to winning victories for the campaigns. Assists with editing, writing, and research to develop and test new ways to use online web pages, mobile strategies, and action alerts to engage more people in campaigns.

Objectives:

1. Works with the communications team to recommend a digital communications plan and strategy for ICIJ programs and campaigns.

2. Integrates available tools to strengthen our online outreach activities in frontline communities, including how we enter a community, digital mapping, membership recruitment, and addressing the digital divide.

3. Uses an integrated email/web/constituent relationship management system to develop segmented lists, track and report results, target emails, and link to appropriate web pages.

4. Create bilingual, culturally competent digital strategies to grow and engage frontline communities on email, social media, mobile, and on new emerging platforms.

5. Develops and maintains, through project work and digital experimentation, best practices for regional online ads, online list growth, fundraising, and membership recruitment.

6. Organizes, develops, and coordinates online email outreach, web-based advocacy, and designs digital outreach material.

7. In coordination with outreach staff, develop online-to-offline integration of the members and supporters who are interested in ICIJ programs, services, and campaigns.

8. Performs miscellaneous duties as directed.

Experience and Skills Required

Strong background in digital organizing and strategic communications.
Familiarity or organizing experience in/with grassroots communities of color, particularly immigrant and refugee communities required.
Digital marketing experience is preferred but not required.
Digital design experience required.
Fluent speaking, writing, and reading in English and Spanish is required.
Proficient computer skills and prior experience or aptitude with internet applications including email, constituent relationship management or other related data systems, social networking systems, mobile platforms, and web applications.
Excellent writing and editing skills. Demonstrated skills in writing and production of online campaign materials. Good verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in an action-oriented office.
Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and effectively with the public, staff and volunteers.
Ability to train staff and volunteers effectively on email, social media, and mobile best practices.
