Construction Estimator
Well established landscape design/build firm is looking for an experienced, ambitious, positive and long term oriented individual for our Estimating Position. Excellent working conditions, atmosphere and pay. Willing to train as required. Understanding of basic construction a must.
Responsibilities include:
*Attend project pre-bid meetings
*Perform takeoffs and estimate material needed for our projects
*Solicit written quotes for hard materials and site furnishings
*Assign or propose profit margins based on current pricing guidelines
*Prepare and send out final estimates
*Manage landscape construction estimating workflow to provide complete proposals before bid deadlines
*Assist in-house designers with estimating projects
*Submit RFIs to clients when necessary
*Expand our sub net work Constantly
*Find new vendors Constantly
*Estimate labor, Materials and time for each project
*Explore documentation in order to gain a deep understanding of the project requirements
*Build and maintain long-term relationships with the key vendors and clients
*Obtains bids from clients, vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, negotiating pricing
Key requirements:
*Positive, thorough, and proactive communication a must as there will be constant interaction with Clients, architects, and subcontractors
*High work ethic and self motivation
*Ability to read and understand plans & specifications
*Perform takeoffs
*Strong organizational skills
*Ability to multi-task in fast paced work environment
*Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook (quickbooks is a plus)
*Familiarity with estimating/takeoff software’s
*Previous working experience as construction estimator for 2 years
*Hands on experience with complex data research activities
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills
*Critical-thinker and problem-solver
*Strong negotiating skills
*Project management from the office, making sure subs and vendors know their scope upon starting the job.
*Purchasing and coordinating material deliveries with our project manager and on site teams
*Experience with landscape estimating is a plus.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
