Community Marketing Manager

Reporting to the CEO, the Community Marketing Manager supports and forwards the mission of the Economic Development Council, its Board, Executive Committee, and CEO, by overseeing the Community Branding initiative, the EDC attraction marketing; production and distribution of all marketing collateral; and management of written and oral communication to any external public audience.

Duties and Responsibilities (All essential job functions are listed below):


· Manage Community Branding initiative.

· Promote BNEDC and Community successes and events to the McLean County community, investors, and economic development industry.

· Build the BNEDC and Community brand locally and beyond the region/state.

· Establish BNEDC as the go-to information source of Bloomington-Normal-McLean County for national economic development and targeted industry journals.

· Maintain and grow media outreach to local, regional, and specialized media organizations and journalists.

· Create and edit marketing, social media, event artwork, videos, and podcasts.

· Assist in formulating written materials for prospective businesses, site selectors, BNEDC investors, and community stakeholders and partners.

· Manage the BNEDC’s microsites and social media accounts.

· Produce regular content for quarterly newsletters and website blogs.


Other Duties:


· Research, gather, organize, and analyze data relating to local, regional, and national trends that impact or influence the mission of BNEDC.

· Attend meetings in place of the CEO, reporting activities and outcomes in detail upon return.

· Assist other staff members when and if necessary and required.

· Manage Communications Intern

Education and Experience


· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Considerable knowledge and skill in the use of computers and computer software, such as spreadsheets, word processing, and social media.

· Knowledge of and ability to build relationships with local media outlets.

· Ability to work effectively as part of a team is a must.

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality.

· Working knowledge and skills in photography.

· Skills in graphic design and knowledge of Adobe creative suite are a plus.

· Knowledge of McLean County and Central Illinois communities, government structure, community organizations, business structure and organization, legal matters, and financial practices as they relate to specific areas of responsibility a plus.

Physical Demands:


· Operate normal office equipment.

· Travel as needed.

· Use the computer extensively with required visual acuity.

Additional Requirements:


· This position will include periodic weeknight commitments.

· This position requires McLean County residency.
