Automotive Mechanic

We are looking for a skilled Auto Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality. An excellent auto mechanic has good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. They are well-versed in complex mechanical or electronical systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity

Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)

Maintain equipment and tools in good condition

Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy.

Diagnoses vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection.

Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.

Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.

Road tests vehicles.

Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.

Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.

Keeps shop area neat and clean.

Understands and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.

Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Other tasks as assigned



Skills

Proven experience as auto mechanic

Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)

Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.

High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred

Valid certification (e.g ASE) is a definite plus

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Workplace Hazardous Materials

General tire and wheel knowledge

State Emission Certification

State Vehicle Inspector Certification required

Valid Driver's License required
