Theodora Farms is a 10-acre organic vegetable farm in Godfrey, IL. Our mission is to catalyze the health & happiness of our region through food and agriculture. We grow and sell the best-tasting, freshest, organic foods by building rich, fertile soils, outstanding production systems, and great business and customer-service practices. We sell produce through a farm membership (CSA), local farmers markets, a farm store, an online shop (with home delivery), and area restaurants.

SUMMARY OF THE FIELD ASSISTANT Position
Field Assistants at Theodora Farms work in all areas of crop production, including sowing, planting, cultivation, harvest, and sales. Field Assistants are directed by the Farm Manager and support the farm in every way. Field Assistants are assessed on the quality of work, problem-solving, and teamwork as well as customer value, retention, and feedback.
REQUIREMENTS
3 years of full-time work experience
Work experience in annual organic crop production is preferred but not required
Interest in working on a farm and gaining new skills
Available for full-time, seasonal work
Self-motivated work ethic combined with team orientation
Excellent verbal communication and listening skills
Positive, punctual, adaptable, friendly, and proactive approach and attitude
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
Reliable means of communication, including phone, email, or texting devices or capabilities
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Assistants will be primarily responsible for the following:
Crop Production
Sowing and Transplanting crops in greenhouses and fields
Preparing fields for crop sowing and transplanting, including the use of tractors and implements
Amending beds with finished composts and organic fertilizers
Cultivating crops and beds using hand tools and tractor implements
Supporting crops through trellising, mulching, amending, irrigating, and covering
Addressing disease and pest problems using certified organic methods
Harvesting, rinsing, and packing crops for sale, delivery, and distribution
Sales
Selling produce at farmer’s markets and farm store
Serving customers both at the farm and at off-site markets
Organizational Support & Planning
Participation in crop planning & team-building
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Field Assistants report directly to the Farm Manager and support a team consisting of Production, Marketing, Education, and Administrative managers and staff.
KNOWLEDGE
Field Assistants must have knowledge of the following:
Basic work skills, including punctuality, listening, implementing instructions, and communications
Knowledge of agriculture is preferred but not required

SCHEDULES
Full-time, 40 hours/week, both year-round and seasonal positions
COMPENSATION
This position is hourly including access to a share of the harvest, group health insurance, and paid-time-off.
