Position Summary The Mechanical department provides Mechanical Engineering expertise for all phases of product development, from design through production. Applies expertise in Mechanical Engineering in various aspects of the development of electronic components for aerospace applications. For Engineering, the Senior Mechanical Engineer provides this expertise to development and sustaining projects: addressing design of mechanical packaging for electronics, mechanical analysis, design and qualification testing, and creation of design and program documentation.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Engineering design including:
Electronic Packaging Design of Aerospace Hardware
CAD design, 3D and 2D (sheet metal, machined parts, plastic parts, castings)
Drawing packages (including 2D CAD drawings)
Weight analysis
Assembly documents
BOM part selections
Engineering Change Orders
Building of prototypes
Perform mechanical and environmental testing
FEA Analysis (Structural and Thermal)
Technical Reports
Other Mechanical Design Related Output items
Advanced knowledge of FEA structural analysis and thermal analysis tools
Keep current with state-of-the-art techniques for electronics packaging and material technology and processes as may be required by Parker Meggitt
Outside interface for Parker Meggitt mechanical technology and customer requirements, as well as providing subject matter expertise
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
Design to mechanical requirements
Solves technical problems using a combination of experience, judgment, and precedents
Prepares a range of reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
Communicates complex technical information to others in a clear and effective manner

Keep current with state-of-the-art techniques for electronics packaging and material technology and processes as Parker Meggitt may require
Outside interface for Parker Meggitt electrical technology and customer requirements as well as providing subject matter expertise
Lead technical support and guidance to Development Engineering in terms of design reviews, dFMEAs, pFMEAs, and associated risk management activities
Train and coach lower-level mechanical engineers
Execute engineering strategy for the Tucson site
Lead process improvements related to mechanical engineering expertise
Other responsibilities as assigned
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Skills;
Skills need to be mature, with Sr level experience minimal
Advanced knowledge of Mechanical Engineering
Proficient in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks
Proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), preferably ANSYS
Ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving
Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
Ability to explain a range of technical information
Excellent communicator – can sell concepts to people at all levels in the organization, including engineers.
