Job Title: Buyer

Location: Houston, TX

Type: 1 month contract

Pay: $25 - $26 / Hour

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

The Buyer is responsible for supporting procurement operations by processing purchase requisitions, requests for quotations (RFQs), purchase orders, and supplier communications. This role ensures timely procurement of indirect and R&D materials, maintains strong vendor relationships, monitors order fulfillment, and supports cross-functional teams to meet operational and project objectives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process RFQs for indirect and R&D materials while ensuring compliance with established procurement procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to fulfill purchase requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Review and prioritize new purchase requisitions to support operational and project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and communicate identified risks or concerns to management.
  • Resolve purchasing and payment-related issues with internal departments and external vendors.
  • Evaluate vendor quotations for accuracy, pricing, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Ensure order accuracy through supplier follow-up, order tracking, and delivery confirmations.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and proactively address potential delivery delays or supply disruptions.
  • Source and qualify new suppliers to support engineering and research and development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation to support audits and reporting requirements.
  • Update purchase order due dates based on supplier commitments and logistics schedules.
  • Effectively manage workload and resources to maximize productivity and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate professionally with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects focused on improving procurement and supply chain efficiency.
  • Apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to resolve purchasing challenges in an ethical and effective manner.
  • Work independently while seeking guidance and escalation support when appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related experience.
  • Experience processing purchase requisitions, RFQs, purchase orders, and vendor quotations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP systems.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, or research and development environments.
  • Knowledge of procurement and supply chain best practices.
