Status: Part Time PM 11pm-7pm with every other weekend rotation

Position Summary

Highland Chateau Health + Rehabilitation Center is seeking a dependable and skilled Cook to join our dietary team. This role is responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for our residents while supporting dietary compliance and leading a team of servers during meal service. Long-term care or healthcare food service experience is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals for 50+ residents following planned menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.

  • Ensure meals meet therapeutic diet requirements and dietary restrictions as ordered.

  • Lead, direct, and support dietary servers during meal service.

  • Coordinate meal timing and service flow to ensure residents receive meals promptly.

  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Follow proper food handling, storage, and infection control practices.

  • Assist with inventory awareness and communicate supply needs to dietary leadership.

  • Maintain accurate production records and temperature logs.

  • Provide courteous and resident-centered service at all times.

Qualifications
  • Previous cooking experience required; long-term care or healthcare setting experience preferred.

  • Ability to cook in large quantities while maintaining quality and consistency.

  • Experience supervising or leading staff strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of modified diets (mechanical soft, pureed, diabetic, etc.) a plus.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
