Sorensen’s Café Hope Valley is seeking a part-time server for 3 shifts a week

Desolation Hotel in Hope Valley, Markleeville , CA, is looking for Servers to join our Restaurant Team.

Desolation Hotel is now under new management, as of October 2025.

Our resort property features our cabin accommodations and Sorensen's Cafe. Our Campground property, next door, features our yurt accommodations and Hope Valley Bar & Grill. 

Job Summary

Set in the beautiful mountains of Hope Valley. Historical Sorensen’s Café has been a staple for almost 100 years. If you have a passion for the outdoors, we are the place for you to work. Come join our team in the beautiful mountains. We are a year-round destination resort located in beautiful Hope Valley.

 General Accountabilities

• Taking guest food and drink orders
• Collaborating with the kitchen and bar staff for prompt and correct delivery of orders
• Memorizing the menu and recommend appetizers, meals and drinks
• Delivering a memorable dining experience
• Assisting with the tidying of tables, clearing leftovers and keeping the dining area neat and pleasant
• Ensuring all opening and closing procedures are completed
• Knowledge of proper cash handling procedures

Job Qualifications

• 3+ years of serving
• Interest in learning or having knowledge of wine, spirits, cocktails and food
• Ability to multitask
• Working knowledge of point-of-sale systems
• High level of stamina to work on your feet for extended periods
• Must be 18 or older
• Must have a California food handlers card
• Can lift up to 25 pounds unassisted

• Exceptional organization and time management
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Great active listening skills
• Knowledge of foodservice regulations and proper food handling procedures
• Capability to learn quickly and memorize menu details
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Willing to work flexible work schedules that include nights and weekends
