We are seeking an experienced Director of Facilities Operations to lead facilities management at Melrose Wakefield Hospital, a 174-bed hospital that operates jointly with Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford. This two-campus healthcare system provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, maternity care, and emergency medicine, and serves as the region's Level III Trauma Center.

As the Director of Facilities Operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You will oversee daily operations, manage skilled trade teams, and partner with hospital leadership to drive excellence in facilities and support overall hospital performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage facilities operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and utilities.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and ensure timely reactive repairs.
  • Hire, train, and supervise facilities staff, skilled trades, and managers.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory agencies (Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA, etc.).
  • Manage budgets, vendor contracts, and service agreements.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to align facilities operations with patient satisfaction and safety goals.
  • Oversee additional services such as security, laundry, groundskeeping, and logistics, as needed.
  • Partner on construction projects and renovations, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in healthcare facilities operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or plant operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards (Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced hospital environment.
