(6) Registered Nurses to the Santa Fe Indian Health Center and Perform direct care/services to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

 

  • Location:
    • 1700 Cerrillos Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87505
  • Work Shifts: 
    • 12 Hours - (7:30 am - 8:00 pm, S-S); and 
    • 8 Hours (11:30 am - 8:00 pm, S-S) with 30- minute non-paid lunch. Hours assigned bi-weekly; scheduled for weekends and Federal holidays; no on call.
      • Work Flexibility:  Must rotate into other duty sections as needed to support patient care.
    • Requirements:
    • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree, BSN.
    • License/Registration:  All registered nurses must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract. 
    • Experience: The Contractor must have thirty-six (36) months of nursing experience, with a minimum of twelve months (12) in the specialty selected. 
    • Certifications:
      • American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification.   
      • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)   
      • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), Trauma Nurse Critical Care (TNCC), and Nurse Specialty certification (e.g., CNOR, Fetal monitoring) is preferred for each appropriate duty section at the time of employment a
    • Expected Duties:
    • Utilize the nursing process in identifying individual patient problems and in developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans. 
    • Perform registered nursing care to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and sociocultural needs of   the patient, by means of direct care and teaching. 
    • Observe and assess a patient's clinical condition, recognize, identify, and interpret serious    situations and immediately decide proper action (e.g., informs physician or takes pre-planned measures).   
      • In emergency situations when a physician is not present or immediately available, the contractor initiates appropriate measures (e.g., takes resuscitative measures in case of cardiac or   respiratory arrest). 
    • Operate and monitor specialized equipment including, but not limited to, resuscitation     equipment, electronic monitoring devices, suction machines, cardiac monitors, oxygen saturation   monitors, IVACs, etc. 
    • Perform and administer therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician including, but not    limited to, medication administration (utilizing a variety of routes), intravenous fluids, ear lavage, insertion of urinary catheters, basic splinting, etc. 
    • Perform Point of Care Testing such as urinalysis, pregnancy tests, rapid strep tests, rapid influenza   tests and blood glucose tests. 
    • Perform phlebotomy duties. 
    • Document observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures, and status of patient's    condition in the patient medical record.   
      • The contractor must coordinate activities between nursing and other professional disciplines to provide holistic patient care. 
    • Perform rotation work to the other clinical nursing units during emergencies to perform routine nursing functions. 
    • Perform work with multicultural patients. 
    • Provide independent plans, schedules, and comprehensive nursing care without specific instructions for each patient.   
      • Emergencies or unusual problems are reported to the physician or a supervisory clinical nurse, as appropriate. 
    • Guidelines applicable in the performance of the contract are established hospital policy and    procedures and approved Standing Orders. 
    • Perform critical judgment skills in emergency situations or in situations where a provider or    another nurse is not available. 
    • Perform satisfactory standards of competence, conduct, appearance, and integrity.   
      • The quality of work performance of the contractor's employee must be subject to review. 
    • Abide by the IHS facility standards of conduct and the policies and procedures of the service unit   and assigned department/unit.
    • The Contractor will be responsible for making sure patients’ needs are being handled/managed for neonatal, pediatric, geriatric, adolescents, and adults in a timely manner. 
    • The Contractor will be responsible for standard nursing practices are being meet during routine care as well as during emergencies. 
    • The Contractor will be responsible for making sure all charting is update as required.
