Principal Investigator - Archaeologist

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage archaeological projects across Texas and surrounding states.
Conduct fieldwork, identifying artifacts and assessing the presence of archaeological sites.
Collect and document field samples and data during archaeological investigations.
Analyze historical and prehistoric artifacts and features.
Review, write, and contribute to portions of archaeological reports and site forms.
Assist in making project decisions and resolving adverse effects on cultural resources.
Collaborate with field, lab, office, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality project delivery.
Support business development efforts by assisting with proposals, budgets, and marketing materials.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Anthropology or a closely related field.
Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeologists.
5+ years of experience in CRM archaeology (at least 3 years in leadership roles).
Knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas.
Ability to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit.
Regional experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana).
Proven supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience working with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations.
Valid driver's license.
Writing sample from thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report required.
Must provide at least 3 professional references.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Registered Professional Archaeologist or the ability to become registered.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Google Earth, ArcMap, or other GIS software.
Significant lab and curation experience.
Experience in obtaining a Texas Antiquities Permit.
