Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage archaeological projects across Texas and surrounding states.
  • Conduct fieldwork, identifying artifacts and assessing the presence of archaeological sites.
  • Collect and document field samples and data during archaeological investigations.
  • Analyze historical and prehistoric artifacts and features.
  • Review, write, and contribute to portions of archaeological reports and site forms.
  • Assist in making project decisions and resolving adverse effects on cultural resources.
  • Collaborate with field, lab, office, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Support business development efforts by assisting with proposals, budgets, and marketing materials.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Anthropology or a closely related field.
  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeologists.
  • 5+ years of experience in CRM archaeology (at least 3 years in leadership roles).
  • Knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas.
  • Ability to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit.
  • Regional experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana).
  • Proven supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Writing sample from thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report required.
  • Must provide at least 3 professional references.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Registered Professional Archaeologist or the ability to become registered.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Google Earth, ArcMap, or other GIS software.
  • Significant lab and curation experience.
  • Experience in obtaining a Texas Antiquities Permit.
