Job Summary:

Responsible for recruitment, training and work preparedness and on-site coaching and mentoring high school teens, 16 years old and up, to work a 6-month paid internship at local Old Navy stores. This position is part-time, seasonal and temporary until all 10 youth complete their 6-month internship and receive 10 hours of onsite coaching.

Responsibilities:

  • Market and recruits and enrolls, 10 high school teens, aged 16 and up for the This Way Ahead internship through Brighter Futures, FSET, Grad Plus and other Club programming.
  • Facilitates a three-day, mandatory job readiness training for all candidates to prepare for an interview with Old Navy managers.
  • Utilizes and incorporates VR equipment to help train and familiarize teens with customer service.
  • Tracks member participation and attendance in assigned program areas and documents results and progress of members.
  • Conducts individual on-site coaching for each 10 hires, totaling 10 hours total for each member.
  • Communicates the philosophy, objectives, standards, and programs of the Boys & Girls Club, through all methods available to members, their parents, and the public.
  • Implements and participates in programs, projects, and special events within the Life & Workforce Development teams.
  • Implements National Boys & Girls Club curriculum, programs projects, and other events within development for youth.
  • Generate weekly, or monthly reports as requested.
  • Develops and maintains positive climate and environment with program space.
  • Encourages emotional, social, and educational growth of individual members.
  • Participates in other Life & Workforce Development field trips, including overnight trips as needed.
  • Must participate in required training courses by the Club, County, State, and/or funders.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience in Life & Workforce Development and/or College Access & Success.
  • At least two years of experience directly related to youth and youth programming or completion.
  • Qualifies to drive BGCGM vans.

Skills:

  • Ability to keep youth ages 14-19 enthusiastically engaged in programming
  • Demonstrated examples of working with youth.
  • Program development and small group implementation.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to relate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must have a valid WI driver’s license, good driving record, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.
