Our distribution operations are central to our customer experience, requiring precision, speed, and scalability. We leverage advanced warehouse technologies, including a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Locus robotics, to support efficient and accurate order processing.

Position Overview

The Director of Distribution is responsible for end-to-end leadership of YoungLA’s distribution center operations. This role oversees all warehouse functions within a ~100,000 sq. ft. facility supporting direct-to-consumer fulfillment.

The Director will lead a workforce of approximately 100 employees, including a significant temporary labor component (30–40%), across both day and night shifts. This individual is accountable for operational performance, workforce management, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is strictly focused on distribution center operations and does not include ownership of transportation, freight, or external logistics.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead all warehouse functions including receiving, putaway, inventory control, order picking, packing, and returns processing
  • Oversee both day shift (pick/pack operations) and night shift (restocking, returns, and inbound processing)
  • Ensure consistent execution of high-volume e-commerce fulfillment with a focus on speed, accuracy, and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain operational readiness to support frequent product launches and demand spikes
  • Directly manage warehouse managers across functional areas


  • Establish clear accountability across all levels of the organization
  • Develop and manage labor plans aligned with daily volume and seasonal demand
  • Utilize a blended workforce of full-time and temporary employees
  • Monitor productivity and adjust staffing to meet service levels while controlling costs
  • Drive improvements in workforce efficiency, engagement, and retention
  • Oversee warehouse automation, including Locus robotics
  • Ensure proper utilization of systems and tools
  • Establish and monitor key metrics including order accuracy, productivity, cost per unit
  • Analyze performance trends and implement improvements
  • Drive a data-driven culture focused on continuous improvements
  • Ensure high levels of inventory accuracy
  • Oversee returns processing and restocking
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and deploy scalable solutions
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Standardize processes across warehouse functions
  • Ensure compliance with California labor laws
  • Maintain OSHA standards and safety protocols
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability
  • Ensure proper training and certification for equipment use

Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of experience in distribution or warehouse operations
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing managers and large teams
  • Experience in high-volume e-commerce environments preferred
  • Strong knowledge of WMS systems
  • Experience with warehouse automation preferred
  • Proven ability to manage temporary labor and scale operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Lean or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
