Sorensen’s Café, located within Desolation Hotel Hope Valley, is seeking a skilled and dependable Line Cook to join our kitchen team. The Desolation Hotel Resort has been under new management as of October 2025, and we are focused on building a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace.

Sorensen’s Café offers a casual, approachable menu featuring burgers, sandwiches, soups, and house-made pot pies. Guests enjoy a laid-back mountain atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor dining, making us a welcoming stop for travelers, locals, and resort guests alike.

About Us 

Desolation Hotel Hope Valley is a 27-cabin resort property featuring a small campground, luxury yurts, and two on-site restaurants, all nestled in the mountains and along the West Fork Carson River. Our property blends upscale comfort with a relaxed, nature-focused guest experience. 

Position Overview 

This position is ideal for a cook who enjoys working on a small, committed team and takes pride in consistency, quality, and teamwork. The Line Cook will support daily kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards 
• Set up and break down workstation before and after shifts 
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas 
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations 
• Assist with inventory, prep work, and minimizing food waste 
• Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members 
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned 

Qualifications 

• 2–3 years of kitchen or line cook experience required 
• Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations 
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented 
• Professional attitude with attention to detail
