DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF POSITION:

Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor

• Will be responsible for following a set schedule of cleaning the main Agency building and providing maintenance to the building and equipment as assigned.
• Responsible for ordering, storing, and use of cleaning supplies, as well as use and maintenance of cleaning equipment.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF POSITION DUTIES:

• Take necessary steps to avoid anyone being injured as a result of potentially dangerous conditions in the building, equipment, and/or work activities. If conditions cannot be repaired, it should be reported to the Supervisor.
• Follow cleaning schedule and Policy.
• Perform regular inspections for unsafe areas, burned out or non-functioning exit signs, emergency lights, exterior and interior lights. Sprinkler system and sprinkler system compressor must be checked on a reoccurring basis for proper functioning and maintenance.
• Perform minor repairs commensurate with the employee's knowledge and ability to perform said repairs on building and equipment.
• Order and inventory cleaning and other materials needed to perform the scheduled cleaning and maintenance of the building and equipment.
• Carry out periodic inspections of the exterior of the building for needed repairs and damage. Remove all unwanted debris from around the building, such as paper, cans, and leaves.
• Back brace belt must be worn at all times when performing assigned duties.
• Provide assistance to other staff as needed, such as moving files, tables, and miscellaneous materials.
• Check that windows and doors are locked.
• Set building alarm.
• Perform other duties as are necessary or related to the successful completion of other stated position duties or as mutually agreed.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

18 years of age or older. Possess knowledge, skill, and mental development equal to a high school degree or GED. Experience in the handling and use of cleaning materials and equipment. Experience in basic plumbing, electricity, basic understanding of mechanical items, and carpentry would be helpful, but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Have normal or corrective appliances which will provide normal hearing and eyesight, as well as clarity of speech, in order to be understood. Be able to lift 50 pounds and have the strength and agility to be able to climb steps and/or ladders. Have the constitution to handle (with proper protection) body excrements, and emotionally stable to react in a prescribed manner to an on-the-job crisis.
