Check identification of customers in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
Take beverage orders and food orders
Collect money or credit card for drinks served
Balance cash and credit card receipts
Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons
Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
Serve liquor, wine, bottled or draft beer and soft drinks
Clean bar, work areas, and tables
Mix ingredients in order to prepare cocktails and other drinks (juices, margaritas etc.)
Serve food items to customers seated at the bar and table
Ask customers who become loud and obnoxious to calm down or ask them to leave
Slice fruit for garnishing drinks
Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays
Clean bar and table tops after each guest leaves
Plan, organize, and control the operations of a cocktail lounge or bar
Create featured night drink recipes
Have complete understanding of server responsibilities
Knowledge of all food and beverage items including daily and weekly featured items
Take beverage orders and food orders and also make recommendations
Provide exceptional customer service
Knowledge and Experience
Skills of reading body language to establish when the clients want their order to be taken
Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 50lbs.)
Math skills required (basic level)
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
At least 1-2 years’ experience in serving
California food handlers certificate
Knowledge of the Point of Sales System
ABC certification
