Summary
A top specialty contractor, consistently recognized in the top 15% on ENRs Best Specialty Contractors list, is seeking a Project Manager in San Diego, CA. This role involves supervising and coordinating projects to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Manager will lead the project team, from initial estimating through completion, while ensuring adherence to company procedures and standards. Occasional travel to designated project sites in the greater San Diego region may be required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
Meet with Executive Management, Estimating, Field Operations, and key stakeholders to define project scope and create an execution plan.
Establish pre-planning meetings, project budget, and workable schedules for job cost control, labor, materials, and equipment.
Set project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Review project progress with Executive Management Team incrementally from inception to completion.
Document pending problems and advise management.
Team & Field Management
Meet weekly with field staff to ensure alignment with project goals.
Assume Project Engineer responsibilities in their absence.
Assist in labor negotiations and strategy development.
Represent the company in project meetings.
Financial Management
Manage all financial aspects of the contract, including cost-to-complete reports on a quarterly basis.
Prepare monthly billings for submission to General Contractor or Owner.
Review and prepare monthly subcontractor billings.
Work with Purchasing on all equipment and material buyouts.
Additional Responsibilities
Assume additional responsibilities as directed by corporate management.
Apply innovative management techniques to maximize employee performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant field preferred.
Minimum 5-8 years of experience on commercial and/or industrial plumbing and mechanical projects.
Strong understanding of industrial construction and engineering design concepts.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Bluebeam, Navis Freedom, and COINS.
Ability to apply management techniques that align corporate practices with project activities.
Valid drivers license required.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Sufficient vision to read printed and digital documents.
Ability to climb ladders, access trenches, attics, or confined spaces.
Hearing ability to communicate in noisy environments and recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
