The Microcomputer Technical Support Specialist at the East Aurora Schools will  provide hands-on technical support and hardware maintenance for a variety of technology resources across the school district. Working under the supervision of the Director of Technology, the specialist supports student 1:1 initiatives, classroom instructional technology, staff devices, and facility safety systems.

  • 1:1 Chromebook Deployment & Management: Participate in the physical deployment, staging, intake, and repairs for student Chromebook fleets within the Google Admin Console.
  • Multi-OS Endpoint Support: Provision, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows 11 laptops and macOS/iOS Apple iPad fleets.
  • Physical Safety & Security Systems: Support campus camera surveillance systems, IP security cameras, digital video recorders (NVRs),and  physical access control/door entry hardware.
  • Help Desk & Diagnostics: Diagnose, service, and repair microcomputer hardware, interactive displays, peripheral devices, and network printers. Log, track, and resolve support requests via the district's help desk ticketing platform.
  • Basic Network Operations: Perform basic Local Area Network (LAN) troubleshooting, run network cabling tests, patch switch ports, and ensure wireless access point connectivity for endpoint devices.
  • Asset Tracking & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of district hardware inventories, serial numbers, software licenses, and device assignments.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Google Workspace for Education: Administration of Google Admin Console, Google Classroom environment, Chrome OS device policy, and OU structure.
  • Apple Ecosystem & MDM: Hands-on experience deploying and managing iPad fleets using Apple School Manager and Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms (e.g., Jamf, Mosyle).
  • Windows Administration: Experience deploying, imaging, and troubleshooting Windows 11 in an Active Directory/Microsoft Entra ID environment.
  • Surveillance & IP Hardware: Familiarity with IP camera installation, basic network video recorder (NVR) configuration, and CCTV/security management software.
  • Network & Hardware Diagnostics: Understanding Wi-Fi connectivity, Ethernet patch panels, and hardware component replacement (screens, batteries, motherboards).
