About the Host Site
The Nevada Department of Wildlife’s (NDOW) Conservation Education division provides wildlife, hunter, angler, archery, boating, and urban wildlife education programs in classrooms and communities throughout Nevada. Through these programs, NDOW reaches thousands of participants each year while advancing its mission of connecting people to wildlife in a positive way.
Position Summary
The Wildlife Educator AmeriCorps Member (the member) serves on NDOW’s Conservation Education team, supporting classroom and community wildlife education programs throughout the Eastern Region (Elko, Lander, White Pine, and Eureka counties). The member will help develop and deliver outdoor education events, clinics, and field trips focused on wildlife conservation, archery, fishing, hunting, and shooting sports. Additional duties include assisting with volunteer recruitment and training, supporting volunteer projects, and providing fieldwork assistance as needed. This position requires a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, as well as frequent travel, outdoor work, and occasional camping in varying weather conditions.

Service Expectations
AmeriCorps members must wear approved AmeriCorps identification during service activities and the designated program uniform when facilitating programs. Members must participate in at least one National Day of Service during their term and may have additional opportunities for community service projects.
Evaluation and Reporting
Members will receive regular performance evaluations from both their site supervisor and the AmeriCorps Program Director. Members are responsible for submitting bi-weekly service logs (timesheets) and weekly activity reports.
