Job Type: Part-Time/Full-Time 3-4 days per week for on-boarding, ideally transitioning to full time 5 days per week (within 1-2 months)
Compensation: $25-29 / hr

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Metal Machinist to join our team. This role is essential in the manufacturing of precision metal parts for our high-end lighting fixtures. The candidate will be responsible for the machining and fabrication of complex brass and metal components to exacting standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes pride in technical precision, and has extensive experience with machining equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machining: Operate lathe and mill to produce precision brass components according to technical drawings.
  • Technical Reading: Interpret complex engineering blueprints and schematics to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Precision Fabrication: Perform precise drilling, threading, and bending of metal parts to match detailed specifications.
  • Quality Inspection: Use calipers and other gauges to ensure all machined parts meet strict quality tolerances.
  • Tooling Maintenance: Maintain machining equipment and shop tools to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating machining equipment (Lathe, Mill, etc.).
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Advanced metal fabrication skills and proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment.
  • Comfortable with and motivated by deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with metal fabrication or related craft
  • Experience in assembly of complex parts and systems
  • Experience in electrical soldering
  • Interest in artisan production and appreciation for handcrafted design.
  • Time management, organizational, communication skills.
