RIMARY FUNCTION:

Under direction provide instruction, assessment and program planning for special education students that are Deaf and Hard of Hearing with primary learning disabilities including mild to moderate and/or moderate to severe mental disabilities, attention deficit and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, and emotional disturbances. The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher is responsible for monitoring and evaluating student progress and behavior; researching, obtaining and providing instructional materials for special education services; serve as an informational resource for students, parents, District personnel and community organizations; working within a pull-out Learning Center environment or within a self-contained classroom.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid California Deaf and Hard of Hearing Special Education Teaching Credential
• Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field
• Experience working with students deaf and/or hard of hearing
• Knowledge of instructional strategies for diverse learners
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Before starting Lighthouse Therapy, our CEO and Speech-Language Pathologist, Janet Courtney, provided online therapy services for over six years and worked as a therapist for nearly twenty-five years.
